Blood Bath on Feb 5, 2025

Greed took over me with my IAU and SLV CALLS at over 50-100%.  I did not take a profit when the market took a dramatic all time highs.  Now, I am stuck and I opened up more long CALLS than intended.  I have gone up and above my limit.  Now, I'll just have to wait out the storm.  Take whatever green profit I have moving forward to reduce my margin usage.

LESSON:  Take profit and not chase for more.

Currently, WS MARGIN $2,963.53.

2025 Recap

Beginning of 2025, I was chasing high yielding income Covered Call ETFs like Yieldmax MSTY and ULTY.  I wanted to create $5k/mo in passive income. I peaked at August and collected $10k+ in distributions.  Even though I collected $40,605.83 CAD, I noticed my TFSA (3%) and RRSP (10%) at Wealthsimple did not match the market's return (20%).   Then BTC started wavering and everything followed suit.  I had a shit ton of $MSTR related products like MSTY, MSTE, MSTX and HHIS/BIGY.  I also missed out on a ton of opportunities by selling myself short on covered CALLS and long LEAP on AMD.  I made stupid bets on LEAP CALLs on MP and USAR at its height.  Definitely, I was over trading to make up for my losses.  Last quarter of 2025, I decided to make a change and gotten rid of all my CC ETFs and bad plays.  I took a loss but I'm still up overall thanks to my growth stocks in my portfolio.

For 2026, I plan to trade less and hold strong ETFs in my RRSP and TFSA.  Today, I sold my VFV at 20% gain and moved the funds to FEQT.  My plan moving forward to is slowly sell off my stocks and reallocate to VEQT in RRSP and FEQT in TFSA.  For USD funds, I'll be moving them to VUG in either account.  This is my road to $1 million.  My target is Dec 2026.

Trades for the Day

BMO and NA had good earnings and raised dividends yield.  They popped up today.  Those are my top two CAD bank holdings

Sold TSE:BMO 10 shares @ 148.50 = $1,485.00 to lock in 100.70% return.  I'm trying to reduce my BMO as it does take up 8.87% of my WS overall portfolio.  I am down to 323.52 shares.

Bought TSE:MSTE 60 shares @ 16.30 = $978
Bought TSE:MSTE 7 shares @ 16.26 =  $113.82 to average down to collect the ex-dividend date on May 31st.  Current, share count 300 x 0.66 = $198.00 which will be paid out June 9, 2025.
